@tweise yeah. a few other people also asked for the same thing in [issue-1951](https://github.com/apache/iceberg/issues/1951). I looked at the shim layer approach in `flink-connector-hive` module. It will probably work with existing code. But we will need to add an Iceberg source impl based on FLIP-27 source interface in 1.12. It is unclear how it works with the shim layer.
