The workaround is the use the SMX jre properties, which you can override the
existing by storing it with the name etc/custom.properties.
>From a shell you can do this fairly easily as follows:
davsclaus:/opt/apache-karaf-2.1.0$ curl
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/servicemix/smx4/features/trunk/assembly/src/main/filtered-resources/etc/jre.properties

Then it works. However you need to install the http feature before installing
CXF as it requires http stuff.
