this JIRA, since gitbot failed to. My theory of why gitbot failed to comment
was obviously wrong, given that the *merge* message is perfect, with issue ID
and all. I do apologize for quoting the commit message at all, I can see how
that just adds fuel to the fire, when it really is a non.issue. So I guess
gitbot must have had a hickup then!

Had nobody voiced concerns then it would be CTR. There was a comment here "I
would like to merge it soon" on the evening March 2nd, I voiced concern right
after and the merge happened noon March 3rd. That is a strange timeline, it is
not consensus, not even even lazy consensus. The fact that this happens a day
or two before the 8.5 RC0 does not make it any better, that's another reason
why it is important to revert now.
I'm flagging this as Blocker for the 8.5 release for now.
