Went ahead and put a [PR|https://github.com/apache/lucene/pull/255] out for
this (not sure why it didn't auto link yet). I'm planning to write some more
tests but I did confirm that the randomized testing is covering these cases so
I'm pretty confident in the solution and results (but will still test more).
