Although, strangely, when I run `./gradlew clean check` I get this very odd
(never seen this before) failure:
```
Unable to make progress running work. The following items are queued for
execution but none of them can be \
started:
```
The gradle build then fails having tons of thinsg to do but none of them
actionable/schedulable? Weird.
if I separately run `./gradlew clean` and then `./gradlew check` then it's
fine ... weird. I'm using Java 22.
