Hmm so this means users who enable CFS (I think it's enabled by default still today?), and who try to preload certain segment files but not others, are silently either preloading nothing or preloading the entire CFS? Their predicate function will just see .cfs/.cfe (and maybe .liv and doc values files, if there were new deletes or doc values updates).
