I cannot reproduce any of the above, I see no problems in your test project with neither cover.type nor cover.date. Are you sure you are running the right version of the plugin? Are $MAVEN_HOME and $PATH set correctly? Did you try clearing your cache? (I'm just shooting in the dark here...)
