Just make a fork of https://github.com/apache/maven-compiler-plugin and create
an integrationtest under {{src/it}}. If you don't change the code and run {{mvn
verify -Prun-its}} this IT must fail with the NPE. After the fix it should
succeed. That's in short how you can provide a complete patch for this issue.
