-dist is a loose standard we decided on internally for installable assemblies (as opposed to -bin, which typically implies a library packaged up with documentation and such). I really just put it in there as a placeholder...I don't really care what the extension is, as long as Continuum is capable of recognizing assemblies and putting them in the repository. Ideally, the extensions that Continuum deploys would be configurable.
