This issue is fixed on both active branches: - **maven-filtering-3.x**: PR #328 was merged on Jun 12, 2026 — catches `MalformedInputException` in `FilteringUtils.copyFile()` and re-throws as `IOException` with the encoding name appended. - **master**: commit `cbcc05b` added equivalent handling in `DefaultMavenFileFilter.copyFile()`, which wraps all `FilteringUtils` calls — it catches `MalformedInputException` and appends the encoding to the `MavenFilteringException` message, also handling null/empty encoding with a fallback to the JVM default charset.
