Hi @CMoH, thanks for this, and sorry it sat here so long. You were right about the cause: verifyParameters() only checks that the test classes directory exists, so a module with nothing but shared matchers in src/test still tripped the groups check. It still does on master today. I've fixed it in #3570 by moving the check to after the test scan, so it only runs when there are tests to run. That's the same ordering you were going for here, just without the extra parameter. Tracked in #2795. Closing this in favour of #3570. Your branch is older than the code reformatting and won't rebase cleanly any more, which is the only reason it isn't just getting merged.
