This was originally reported against as
https://issues.sonatype.org/browse/TYCHO-531. When the same pom.xml file is
referenced from multiple <module/> element, the build fails with rather
unhelpful error message like

To help user troubleshoot the problem, we need to provide pom.xml and ideally
