@Robert, possibly. While this is intended for plugins and extensions, I'm not 
sure what harm there is in exposing this as it will be immutable for a build. 
If a project wanted to use this I'm not sure there's any harm. That said no 
plans to immediately expose this to MavenProject as I have no use case for that 
personally.
