Thanks @jojochuang I addressed the feedback and did a follow-up self-review, addressed a few more issues including duplicate handling, stale-term and queue-full paths, and cleanup. Since the branch had been open for a while, I also merged the latest master without rebasing. The focused datanode and SCM tests have passed, and the PR description has been updated with the key trade-offs and follow-ups. When you have time, could you please take another look?
