[~gjacoby] We had similar discussions yesterday and what you're saying is
definitely the right thing to do, so I do agree. We resorted to adding columns
in 4.15 and the feature later as a sort of quick turnaround for view-TTL
without the potential hacks required to get it into a patch release. Also, the
main concern with waiting until 4.16 was the timeline, but as you said, there
is no rule that stops us from doing another minor release within a couple of
months.
[~jisaac] there is no extra work as such in doing a minor release vs. a patch
release. It depends on the PMC and community whether they deem the feature set
going in on top of 4.15.0 to be sufficient to justify a minor release. This is
what my main concern was, but I think that can be handled.
So, I'm +1 to marking this for 4.16 as long as there are no other hurdles (that
I'm unaware of) in being able to do a 4.16 release soon.
