Łukasz Dywicki commented on PLC4X-286:
--------------------------------------

Great progress [~adrlzr] ! With regard to test failures - yes, they were
failing also for me. I was not able to stabilize them yesterday and decided to
let them go in shaky form.

My recommendation for starting up is collecting sample recording with your
devices, getting them parsed block by block (ie. device properties alone) and
then all together within entire frame. By this you can confirm that MSpec is
properly implemented and works for your setup too. Only then it makes sense to
move on with set/get requests and implementation of actual protocol logic.

At the moment MSpec is based on online research, my own findings and also how
wireshark displayed some of captures. Any of sources you mentioned is
comparable to what was done before. ;)

> I found some work done towards implementing the
> [profinet-DCP|https://profinetuniversity.com/naming-addressing/profinet-dcp/]
> protocol on the  [feature/profinet
> branch|[https://github.com/apache/plc4x/tree/feature/profinet]].
> I see that the profinet protocol is not on the develop branch anymore, was it
> replaced with the s7 protocol?
> If someone would have the time to guide me, I could work on it to update,
> test, and bring this discovery feature to PLC4X.
