STS configurability is certainly something we should add but as @adnanhemani says we must handle it separately from the S3 config. Currently the behavior of Polaris is that the two are decoupled, and users will be happily using a Polaris instance where they are routing STS through the region for all their assumeRoles, but then use those credentials to access cross-region buckets. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
