Jan Høydahl commented on SOLR-14660: ------------------------------------ Looks like hdfs is a common reason for Solr needing to stay on old versions of various libraries. Converting it into a contrib won't change the jar-hell issue. But it is a nice step on the way to more easily removing HDFS. I have recently announced the intention to release 9.0 in February. Do you think the contrib part of this can be merged in time for that? What about the plugin package part? It's tempting to release 9.0 *without* HDFS and tell those who depend on it to stay on 8.11 until HDFS is available as a package for 9.x.
