Jan Høydahl commented on SOLR-15557:
------------------------------------

Did a first round on this in the PR, assigning redirect urs for the direct
renames.

Then you have the more subtle ones, like removed pages but where the content is
merged into another page. Then I suggest we redirect to that other page.

And for the removed stuff like CDCR and DIH, we can either return 404 for a
https://solr.apache.org/guide/<foo>.html or we can redirect to the latest 8.11
guide where you find that doc and where it (should) also say that it is in fact
deprecated. WDYT?

> When I reorganized the Ref Guide in SOLR-14444, I renamed several pages (and
> removed/merged others). Thus with 9.0 many links that people may have will no
> longer work.
> When I presented at a recent committer meeting about the changes, a couple of
> people were concerned about this and thought we should be sure to set up
> redirects for all URL changes.
> I kept track of page renames and removals in a spreadsheet:
> Notably, I said when it was brought up that I did not want to be responsible
> for fixing this, but I would file an issue for it. So if no one else picks
> this up I don't intend to hold anything up for it.
> Note that page renames/URL path changes pre-9.0 may not be done yet - see
> SOLR-15556 - so this may need to wait until all the dust settles.
