Jan Høydahl commented on SOLR-17908:
------------------------------------
I heard a similar statement from an Oracle employee at JavaZone in Oslo a few
weeks ago.
But IMO that is Oracle muddying the waters! Perhaps increasing the chance of
selling some Oracle java subscriptions?
As we all know, there ARE LTS releases in that various OpenJDK partners promise
to maintain those (8, 17, 21, 25..) for more than the 6 months that the
OpenJDK project does. So from an Oracle point of view, even OpenJDK25 is dead
after 6 months when 26 ships. But who wants to keep updating every 6 months and
risk running a non-patched JRE?
