The original problem reported here, a mapping that mixed an SRV-backed origin with a plain IP or A-record origin returning 502 after about ten seconds, was fixed by https://github.com/apache/trafficserver/pull/5989 (Concurrent SRV requests failure), which first shipped in release 8.0.6. The reporter confirmed in this thread that the mapping issue was resolved. The remaining follow-up question about weighted SRV records (weights of 5 and 1 being counted as six separate servers instead of two) was never clarified after a maintainer asked for a restatement of the expected versus actual behavior, and the issue has been stale for years. I am closing this as resolved and stale.
