WORTH, TX* *Duration : **6+ months* *Interview :Phone and Skype* *Work Status: GC, Citizen* Description BNSF is looking for an energetic Teradata Database Administrator (DBA) contractor to support the growing demands of its internal business customers. This position is a key member of BNSF’s Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Team sharing responsibilities for: • Physical, Enterprise Level Teradata Database Administration • Performance Monitoring and Tuning • Ensuring Data Quality & Governance • Meta Data & Master Data Management The Senior Database Analyst II will perform database administration and to ensure BNSF standards are met and meet the needs of the business. Candidate should possess extensive knowledge of all aspects of Teradata including monitoring and performance tuning. Duties and Responsibilities: • Performs physical database administration (dba) tasks in Teradata. • Designs and builds simple to complex database structures from data models. • Proactively performs database monitoring and performance tuning tasks. • Provide rotating 24x7 on-call support for BNSF’s Teradata environments as necessary • Identify and provide solutions to performance issues in multiple database environments • Participate in the development and maintenance of high quality data design strategies, guidelines, principles and standards • Promote and maintain positive working relationships with application development teams and business users • Collaborate with other data architects, application development team members and/or DBAs to resolve issues • Communicate data design strategy, guidelines, principles and standards to the development teams • Provide mentoring and education, along with technical guidance and direction to the application development teams and Technology Services overall • Participate in quality assurance of conceptual, logical and physical data models • Ensure logical and physical data models support the Enterprise Data Model (EDM) strategy Education / Experience Requirements: • BS / MS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience in the field of Database Administration Technical / Business Skill: • Three or more year’s total experience as physical DBA in Teradata • Two or more years of experience in database/application performance tuning and monitoring tools. • Experience in database problem identification, problem diagnosis and resolution. • Experience in designing conceptual, logical and physical data models using industry standard tools (e.g. Erwin, Power Designer) • Experience in the normalization process and Entity-Relationship data modeling techniques • Knowledge in using data quality and data governance tools • Knowledge of enterprise data architecture frameworks • Knowledge in a variety of database, ETL, and application concepts, practices and procedures • Knowledge of current trends in data technologies: data services, data virtualization, data integration, Master Data Management, Hadoop/Big Data • Knowledge of Agile development and the Scaled Agile Framework is desirable Professional / Personal Skills • Experience in effective communication at different levels (i.e. junior team members, peers, management, senior management) of the organization • Experience in providing technical data design guidance and direction • Ability to build strong relationships across organizations • Ability to demonstrate innovation and creativity when faced with challenging situations • Strong leadership skills • Strong problem solving skills • Excellent interpersonal skills • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills • Ability to work with development teams to convey the value of enterprise data modeling, data quality and data governance practices • Ability to work on high performing teams and deliver under pressure situations Department TECHNOLOGY SERVICES Work Location FT.
