I think one of the moderators already replied but let
me see if I can clarify ( or elicit a response from Adobe LOL).
itext is not an OCR
system, it won't find Waldo or pickout an interesting
feature in an image or text for that matter. You may want
to ask your question like, " is there some way an author
could annotate the PDF file to include the TEXT corresponding
to the barcode in a place I could find it?"
I really don't think web site designers appreciate the limitations
of pictures and this is probably worth repeating as
much as " see the reference manual." btw, the cygwin
list has a bunch of acronyms( "Take it To The Talk List " for example )
and referrals for related
topics. As I suggested before, if anyone has a list
of common IMAGE interpretation packages( barcodes or OCR),
you may want to suggest it.
