Structurally, those two PDFs are identical. The content stream,
toUnicode, width array, etc etc... the Only Difference is the font name
(and the font's stream, which isn't my thing).
I conclude that the font used in "fontbad.pdf" doesn't contain the
capital letter 'A', AKA U+0022. It might have the full-width variant
U+FF21, but not the low order ascii versions we're used to here in the
states.
