Hello Experts,
I have a issue and hope that someone might have come across this and would
be able to help me.
The project I am working on, generates customer reports using iText. The
report when it renders on the HTML page also pops up a print dialog box
automatically where the user can select number of copies etc. The print
dialogue is shown automatically and I used the below code to the create it:
write.addJavaScript("this.print({bUI: true, bSilent: false, bShrinkToFit:
true});",false);
Everything worked fine with Windows XP Prof and IE7. With XP Professional
and IE7, the print dialogue was modal in nature and the user could not
select the the PDF which popped up the print dialogue till the user presses
OK (to print) or Cancel to close the print dialogue.
Problem started occurring when IE8 was rolled out with Windows 7 on client
machines. Something changed with IE8/Win7 where the print dialogue changed
to non-modal i.e. when the user pressed ALT-TAB, the print dialogue would
get hidden behind some other application and after that when the user tries
to print it again, the window would show "blank" pdf which was due to
earlier print dialg still open. Once we close the earlier print dialog
everything would come back to normalcy. We are using this to solve existing
ticket but it still creates issue with tickets.
Any idea what made the print dialogue to change to non-modal and how do I
fix this?
I read many forums (adobe, iText, googled etc but to no success.
Please help.
-Sam
