OK, I was able to get ivtv-0.5.0 installed as per your assistance.

Removed those lines from modprob.conf

rmmodded and renamed the modules as recommended by the ivtv howto.
Depmodded -a and modprobed ivtv.

Does this apply to ivtv-0.5.0?  If so, do you mean that I should put
back in

alias msp3400 msp3400-ivtv

and add

options msp3400 debug=16

What output should I be mailing?  The relevant dmesg stuff etc as
before?

So after all that, I still have no sound from the PVR-250.  Looks like
ivtv-0.5.0 behaves the same way.
