Julien Pervillé has tried this again and it seems to have fixed remote
issues for him. So thus far, to my knowledge 5 people with IR issues
have tried this and it has resolved the problem for all of them.
Perhaps the patch can be rolled into the driver in such as way so that
it requires a module option activate? At least until the longstanding
issue is finally resolved?
It's already got an option (newi2c), it just needs to be defaulted to 0.
