It doesn't appear that there is any way to do what you want without changing the source code of MythTV and I don't know what would need to be changed. I've asked on both the mythtv-users and mythtv-devel mailing lists, but haven't gotten any response on what needs to be commented out to prevent MythTV from changing the color attributes.
