Hi Thomas,

I just did the same thing, and figured out that the kernel .config now 
has "CONFIG_I2C_ALGOBIT" instead of "CONFIG_I2C_ALGO_BIT". So the install the 
ivtv driver just add a line "CONFIG_I2C_ALGO_BIT=m" to your .config file of 
your currently used kernel source path, and re-emerge ivtv, now it works ;-)
I know this is kind of a hack, but it works fine for me.
