I am also running fedora 8 x86_64. The cx18 driver compiles and loads
except I have not compiled it for the last release of the kernel yet.
The firmware was obtained via the link on the cx18 page. I have not
been able to get it to work reliably with mythtv. There is a message
about a select timeout that happens twice about every 40 seconds.

I did try a dd from the /dev/video0 device to a file for a few minutes
and then mplayer that file and there were no timeouts. mplayer directly
against /dev/video0 would eventually display rubbish and the sound is
way out of synch.
