I'm also new in the cx18 driver camp, but I can confirm there is some strange
behavior here...

For me on my P4-2.5Ghz pc, HVR1600 new model, cx18 driver sometimes doesn't
detect the EEPROM and thus fails to init properly. If I reload the driver, and
mess with the debug= level, it sometimes starts ok. Once the driver is running,
I see that mplayer works ok, but still MythTV is hosed.

Looking in mythbackend.log I noticed the message:

MPEGREC(/dev/video1) Error: Error getting codec params using old IVTV ioctl
eno: Bad address (14)
MPEGRec(/dev/video1) Error: select timeout - ivtv driver has stopped responding

Anyone know what this means or can figure out the reason for the failure?
