There is a link to an archive of firmware files that Conexant has
granted permission to distribute near the bottom of this page:

Where your firmware files go is distribution specific.  For
Fedora, /lib/firmware is the directory to put the files into.  I don't
know about gentoo.

OK.  So far so good.  Hopefully once the firmware is installed
