Besides, they give you Windows Media Player (WMP) for free with the operating system. If they were to package a MPEG 2 decoder--for which they would have had to purchase a license--with the free WMP, it would basically amount to charity. And WMP is not charity, after all--it's an illegal leveraging of a (near) monopoly position to gain market share in another unrelated market. :)
Installed VLC and it works like a charm.
Open source to the rescue!!!
