Darn...unfortunately, the remote got "lost" this evening [0.3.4s + patch by Jean-Francois]. I started the driver with the ivtv_debug=255 option set, so I should have gotten some "Reseting PVR150 IR"
printouts in my /var/log/messages, right Jean-Francois? I have added some more
printouts to the ivtv_reset_ir_gpio routine to see if I can figure out why this appears not
to be called. I am a definite newbie at this, so please point it out if I am going about this
the wrong way. Basically, I added some

IVTV_DEBUG(IVTV_DEBUG_ERR, "ivtv_reset_ir_gpio called\n");

statements, and I plan to set ivtv_debug=1 on the module, to cut down on the shee number of
printouts I am getting in the logs.

One preliminary report: version 0.3.4s + patch by Jean-Francois seems to work just fine so far for
me. Picture quality and audio quality are unchanged, and so far, the remote has not been lost. Time
will tell on the remote, but things are looking promising so far.

Hardware is a PVR-150 nonMCE retail.

Sounds interesting, will test this myself, and want everyone who can test
the patch too, maybe this is the best thing to do, just want to watch it
a little to make sure it is the right thing to do, but sounds really
promising. So everyone test this, I'm going to include it very soon, but
want to make sure everyone works, so speak up now beforehand so we can
make things easier before merging it, since it is a major change in setup.

Thanks,

I have tried all I could to prevent having to do this but I couldn't get any sound from one of my pvr150 cards without it. Dumping all settings from the cx25840 list showed nothing different with another patched version I had made that didn't use the reset list but it was still having the problem. I think there might be some bits which cannot be read back (if you set them then read back right away they would not be set in what you read back) so this cause problems with the way the current drivers does reads, and/or, writes to change settings.

Also I'm concerned because this patch goes though again and sets all
the registers to the defaults, which may not be correct as we saw in
the past? Not sure, maybe good, but something to point out and see
how it works for everyone.

Chris

I'm of the opinion that "black magic" code should be removed. It
seems as though, as the driver now exists, it either breaks things
badly, or does nothing.

I just noticed that this patch sets no_black_magic to 1 by default. Any
particular reason for that?
