Hello all,
First, many thanks to Edward Brookhouse for replying and clueing me in
on how to find version info (plugged four or five phrases into Google,
and nothing turned up "use this thing called modinfo, you meathead!").
Seeing the display of expected parameters and such was quite
enlightening too.
I am interested in upgrading to the latest version, partly because I
read some posts claiming that it had reduced channel-change times within
Myth, and partly to see if it fixes the following error which bit me
last week but has not returned since. Before I upgrade, I would like to
ensure that I back up all of the relevant ivtv files so that I can roll
back to my current version smoothly.
How would one accomplish this on a Debian (Knoppmyth) system?
Here's the error prompting my upgrade - I came home to find my Myth box
non-responsive to remote control, not accessible via Mythweb, and very
sluggish to respond to SSH. Research showed that the system drive ("/")
was full - shocking since there were several GB free the day before.
/var/log/messages and /var/log/syslog were HUGE, and filled with the
following lines repeating -
ivtv: DEC: Sched Buffer end reached 0x02010000
ivtv: DEC: Mailbox 10: 0x00000000 0x02000000 0x02000000 0x02000000
Google'ing the Sched Buffer text found a couple of list posting but
nothing conclusive, is there anything else that I can provide which
might help find a solution?
Many thanks,
Steve
