John,

I just went through the mythtv-setup and everythign seemed to look good.  
I then tried to play an mp3 with xmms and there was no sound.  I have
the RCA cables from the tvout hooked to my tv.  Im running gnome and
the volume control on gnome and xmms are cranked all the way up.
