Used to have the same problem here as well. If the loading of the
tda9887 module doesn't help you (it made no difference for my setup),
you can try using the patch I posted here:
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/ivtv/devel/22272
Before applying this patch, I had sound initially on my pvr-500, but
lose it after a channel change. This happened on both tuners.
After the patch I have obscure noises on /dev/video0 and perfect sound
on /dev/video1, so part of the problem is solved.
Do you use any module options after applying this patch?
No special options. This is for a pvr350 and a pvr500 (0.3.7):
options saa7127 i2c_enable=1,-1,-1
options cx25840 i2c_enable=-1,1,1
options ivtv ivtv_std=2,2,2 ivtv_dynbuf=0
The first tuner on my pvr500 has always been a bit messed up, though.
Up until 0.3.6u the sound sometimes disappeared on the first tuner
after a reboot, http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/ivtv/devel/21485
(not sure if this still happens on 0.3.7). I occasionally also get a
bad picture from this tuner after a reboot.
OK, I'm back with 0.3.6T, because that one works on both tuners of my
pvr-500. The part you patched is identical in 0.3.6T and 0.3.7(patched),
so that part is not the problem. There are more diferences in
ivtv-fileops.c, but I don't know the effect of those differences.
Kind regards,
Henk.
With the original 0.3.7 i have mostly no sound on all 4 tuners of my
dual PVR500. With tha 22272 patch above sound is OK on all channels.
Cheers,
Rudy
