When you say reboot, I assume you mean warm reboot and not a shutdown and wait
at least 30 seconds (cold boot) as per the ivtv troubleshooting page?
Cold boot
* Shutdown your machine and wait at least 30 seconds. The reason for this
is that registers take a long time to clear. This is especially important when
changing driver versions.
