By latest kernel, which one exactly do you refer to
(ie: linux kernel / which ivtv version etc...)
if you can get me those infos i'll give it a shot.
At this time i'm using the latest knopmyth (RE50) , but i could start 
from a fresh debian if newer things are needed.
