I also just bought a PVR-150 that turned out to be a HVR-1600 and I, too, am angry with Hauppauge for making this switch without any marking on the box.
Still, I'm curious -- why isn't there any planned support for the CX23418? Is Conexant at all forthcoming with specs, or was the CX23416 driver entirely a black-box development effort?
