I'm having problems which look identical to the issues reported at this thread with a PVR-350:
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/ivtv/devel/35311 I have 2 PVR-250s in my system (Sempron 3000, VIA K8T800 chipset, 1GB RAM, single SATA drive, Nvidia FX5200 video card) running FC6 with latest updates. The hangs seem to have gotten a lot worse in the last couple months. They used to occur maybe once a week, now they happen what feels like daily. The system always hangs right after a recording starts. Often the last thing I'll see in the mythtv logs is "starting recording", but not always. The tuner in use doesn't seem to matter, it will hang with both of them. There are no DMA related messages errors printed to the logs, though the issue certainly smells of DMA issues. Things I've checked: memtest - ran for 24 hours, no issues CnQ - disabled, no difference filesystem - changed root filesystem from jfs to ext3, no difference PCI latency of PVR-250s. Increased to 176 from 64, no difference vm.min_free_kbytes - Increase to 16MB and 64MB, no difference netconsole - nothing printed, haven't tried a serial console What is strange is that when the system hangs, it seems to continue to operate for a bit if I catch it early enough but disk IO seems to get stuck. Eventually everything will hang and the system will not respond at all, even to keyboard input. Things I haven't tried - I haven't tried the script to run the cat /dev/videoX > /dev/null in a loop to induce the hang yet. So, what can I do to help troubleshoot and fix this issue? Output from the ivtv drivers is below. -Dave ivtv: ==================== START INIT IVTV ==================== ivtv: version 0.10.1 (tagged release) loading ivtv: Linux version: 2.6.20-1.2944.fc6 SMP mod_unload 686 4KSTACKS ivtv: In case of problems please include the debug info between ivtv: the START INIT IVTV and END INIT IVTV lines, along with ivtv: any module options, when mailing the ivtv-users mailinglist. ivtv0: Autodetected Hauppauge card (cx23415 based) ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:08.0[A] -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 19 ivtv0: Unreasonably low latency timer, setting to 64 (was 32) ivtv0: loaded v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw firmware (376836 bytes) ivtv0: loaded v4l-cx2341x-dec.fw firmware (262144 bytes) ivtv0: Encoder revision: 0x02060039 ivtv0: Decoder revision: 0x02020023 tveeprom 1-0050: Hauppauge model 48432, rev I110, serial# 6516482 tveeprom 1-0050: tuner model is Philips FI1236 MK2 (idx 10, type 2) tveeprom 1-0050: TV standards NTSC(M) (eeprom 0x08) tveeprom 1-0050: audio processor is MSP4448 (idx 27) tveeprom 1-0050: decoder processor is SAA7115 (idx 19) tveeprom 1-0050: has no radio, has no IR receiver, has no IR transmitter ivtv0: Autodetected Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250 tuner 1-0061: chip found @ 0xc2 (ivtv i2c driver #0) saa7115 1-0021: saa7115 found (1f7115d0e100000) @ 0x42 (ivtv i2c driver #0) msp3400 1-0040: MSP4448G-A2 found @ 0x80 (ivtv i2c driver #0) msp3400 1-0040: MSP4448G-A2 supports radio, mode is autodetect and autoselect ivtv0: Registered device video0 for encoder MPEG (4 MB) ivtv0: Registered device video32 for encoder YUV (2 MB) ivtv0: Registered device vbi0 for encoder VBI (1 MB) ivtv0: Registered device video24 for encoder PCM audio (1 MB) tuner 1-0061: type set to 2 (Philips NTSC (FI1236,FM1236 and compatibles)) ivtv0: Initialized Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250, card #0 ACPI: PCI Interrupt Link [ALKC] enabled at IRQ 22 ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:11.5[C] -> Link [ALKC] -> GSI 22 (level, low) -> IRQ 20 ivtv: ====================== NEXT CARD ====================== ivtv1: Autodetected Hauppauge card (cx23415 based) ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:09.0[A] -> GSI 17 (level, low) -> IRQ 21 ivtv1: Unreasonably low latency timer, setting to 64 (was 32) ivtv1: loaded v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw firmware (376836 bytes) ivtv1: loaded v4l-cx2341x-dec.fw firmware (262144 bytes) ivtv1: Encoder revision: 0x02060039 ivtv1: Decoder revision: 0x02020023 tuner 2-0061: chip found @ 0xc2 (ivtv i2c driver #1) saa7115 2-0021: saa7115 found (1f7115d0e100000) @ 0x42 (ivtv i2c driver #1) msp3400 2-0040: MSP4448G-A2 found @ 0x80 (ivtv i2c driver #1) msp3400 2-0040: MSP4448G-A2 supports radio, mode is autodetect and autoselect tveeprom 2-0050: Hauppauge model 48432, rev I110, serial# 6146275 tveeprom 2-0050: tuner model is Philips FI1236 MK2 (idx 10, type 2) tveeprom 2-0050: TV standards NTSC(M) (eeprom 0x08) tveeprom 2-0050: audio processor is MSP4448 (idx 27) tveeprom 2-0050: decoder processor is SAA7115 (idx 19) tveeprom 2-0050: has no radio, has no IR receiver, has no IR transmitter ivtv1: Autodetected Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250 ivtv1: Registered device video1 for encoder MPEG (4 MB) ivtv1: Registered device video33 for encoder YUV (2 MB) ivtv1: Registered device vbi1 for encoder VBI (1 MB) ivtv1: Registered device video25 for encoder PCM audio (1 MB) tuner 2-0061: type set to 2 (Philips NTSC (FI1236,FM1236 and compatibles)) ivtv1: Initialized Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250, card #1 ivtv: ==================== END INIT IVTV ==================== _______________________________________________ ivtv-users mailing list [email protected] http://ivtvdriver.org/mailman/listinfo/ivtv-users
