Yes, I am well aware of the issues with Via chipsets and capture
cards. But the fact that at one point in time hangs used to be rare
and the fact that others have reported similar behavior in that
crashes seem to have gotten more frequent leads me to believe that
while Via chipsets are indeed a factor in instability, may not be the
root cause of the instability.

Not to mention that I can't afford to throw hardware at the problem.
If I were to throw hardware at the problem I would be inclined to
purchase a PVR-500 which appears to be much less susceptible to the
issue but seems to have other various issues. If I were to replace the
mobo, I should seriously consider upgrading to Socket AM2 from 739 so
that I can use the latest CPUs/memory but of course then I'd have to
purchase a new CPU and memory.
