Much, much cleaner. Am I wrong to think I should be able to get > something similar from the analog tuners? > It looks very much like you have the LNA problem with Samsung tuners. Search this newsgroup for LNA and possibly samsung. Basically the LNA or (Low Noise Amplifier) causes the artifacts when it gets a strong signal and although there are ways to decrease this effect (attenuate/decrease the input signal or turn off the LNA). The name LNA is supposed to mean a very good thing however I am told a real LNA should cost many times the cost of a PVR 500 so basically the problem is they use a very cheap/poor quality cable amp. I gave up and my pvr 500 sits on my desk as a paperweight. I replaced mine with a pvr 150 and it works very well and does not have a LNA. This problem also effects windows users. And there are reports from the snapstream forum (windows) that hauppage will RMA your unit for one with a working LNA if you complain to them enough. Here is the snapstream link: http://forums.snapstream.com/vb/showthread.php?t=33675 And a link to one example of the LNA problem: http://www.jtdsoftware.com/LNA_Mode_On.jpg John _______________________________________________ ivtv-users mailing list [email protected] http://ivtvdriver.org/mailman/listinfo/ivtv-users
