instead.)

I haven't thought a lot about the time getCanonicalSCP() might take (Sandy
may have a better handle on that) but believe it's going to involve
building something which walks through the graph of objects in the XSModel
and determines the shortest path among the potential candidates. Perhaps
the XSModel walking code could be shared with the other method which would
save some time.

If it's looking like the SCD parser and evaluator parts are going to take
most of GSoC to complete, you might want to make getCanonicalSCP() a nice
to have in your proposal; something you could attempt if you still have
some time left or have an interest in continuing to contribute to Xerces
after GSoC ends.
