Oliver, I was going to suggest this to Aradenatorix because I, too, had java issues with the 4.x series. As I recall, the JabRef releases required specific jdk versions and only Oracle's would work (not openjdk). The portable 5.0 and 5.1 are great ... even with the remaining rough spots that need to be sanded down. It's a great change and all the devs have my thanks for making it so.
