Not finished :) I've figured out I did not connect the diode on Vin correcty (PIC => Ranger instead of PIC <= ranger). There's a huge mistake on one my webpage. So I need to invert the diode, and give a new try (it may still have been damaged).
Yes, these things are quite expensive, widely used. I've read lots of things showing how fragile they are (read: not fool-proof) and still show very low and unreliable performances.
