No, it's probably much easy. The cooperation must have an institutional level and not a personal one. Every participant must be included in a form of research (and if you read your posts, you'll se you are) and join toghether as a team under a lider. The lider can be usually someone from the older EU states with a strong CV which has already driven national projects and want to make the proposal. There are also US-EU cooperation programs. The job you've done here for free could be included in such a research international program if its named properly, driven by the right person and has some cuantificable results. And you could get some money too, most of them for mobilities (meaning organise and participate to conferences or workshops).
