Hi Recent changes to the way in which the latest versions of JDK 1.3.x and JDK 1.4.0 (Release Candidate) install themselves explain this. The "problem" you've found doesn't in itself indicate any compatibility problems with James.
Read http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=17&thread=197137 -- I had the same problem recently on Windows, and figured it out myself. I also included links to Sun's "Bug Parade" which contain even more detailed explanations. -Chris ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lucas Gonze" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "James Users List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Saturday, January 26, 2002 5:38 PM Subject: bug: JDK 1.4 not supported > Get this error message using bin/run.bat on win98: > > Avalon runner > Registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\CurrentVersion' > has value '1.4', but '1.3' is required. > Error: could not find java.dll > Error: could not find Java 2 Runtime Environment. > > > > If I set JAVA_HOME to my jdk1.4 install and launch James via run.sh using > cygwin/bash it runs fine, so 1.4 should be permitted. > > > > -- > To unsubscribe, e-mail: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > For additional commands, e-mail: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For additional commands, e-mail: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
