It turns out that my problem is the one where messages get caught in the
outgoing directory and James uses 90-98% of the processor. When I clear the
outgoing directory, James seems to be fine.  

It looks like someone came up with a fix.  I'm new to this.....  Can someone
let me know when the next compiled release will be available for download?

First of all have a look in The Win 200 (Server?) Internet Service MMC to
check
if the Standard SMTP-Service is deactivated. I had the same problem.
