Thanks Paul - the problem was in jserv.properties. The log file
specified by log.file should be a full path, not just a simple file
name.
It would be kinder if org.apache.jserv.JServ threw an exception on
failing to create the log file rather than continuing silently, or at
least if the distributed jserv.properties sample indicated more
explicitly that log.file needs to be tweaked.
Where's the right place/procedure to make such a request and/or offer to
throw in a development hand?
